The Beautiful Life of Sarah Shahi

Sarah was born in Euless, Texas on January 10th 1980. Her mom is Spanish and her father is Iranian. Sarah has often commented on the completely different climates of her parents, and the reason why they eventually divorced. Sarah describes her mother as a free spirit, who wanted Sarah to be aware of the beauty of her body at a young age. Sarah's father was strict, and though Sarah does not comment much on her relationship with her father, she has recently commented that like her character Dani Reese, she has a strained relationship with her father. In a recent interview with Esquire magazine she also revealed that her father suffered from a drug addiction and walked out on her mother when she was pregnant with Sarah's younger sister. Sarah has not spoken to her father in years.

Growing up Sarah was in a alot of beauty pageants, she was even in a modeling competition in NY city at the young age of 10. She was Miss Fort worth at the age of 17. Sarah was in the church choir, and at one time she believed she would be the next Shania Twain, in fact she use to sing at a club near her home.

Sarah attended Trinity High School, and later attented SMU for her degree in English/Opera. Sarah has always been determined to be number one in everything, so the subject of her missing graduating at the top of her class, is a sour subject, but she wasn't too far behind.

At the age of 18, she tried out for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. She became a member of the squad and not only did she travel on the USO tour, she also landed on the 2000 Swimsuit calendar, a first for a rookie, and not well welcomed by the rest of the girls on her squad. Sarah also graced the cover of Muscular Development.

Sarah's first taste of Hollywood came in the form of a small part in the film "Dr. T and the Women," the director of this film, Robert Altman advised Sarah to continue acting, that she had a strong talent for it, so Sarah did.

Sarah soon got roles on various TV shows, and small stints in movies. Eventually, Sarah landed on Showtimes, "The L Word," as Carmen, she was on this show for two seasons. Sarah then moved on to the short lived show "Teachers," as Tina, and then had a guest role on Showtimes, " The Sopranos," as Sonya. Now, with her role as Dani Reese on NBC's cop drama "Life,", there seems to be no stopping Sarah's rising fame.

Sarah hasn't given up on the movies either, she played Candy in "The Dog Problem," she had a small part in "For Your Consideration," and an un-credited part in,"Rush Hour 3,"and she currently wrapped roles in the indie film, "Americaneast," and the drama-comedy, "Shades of Ray."

In 2009 Sarah married her long time boyfriend Steve Howey and this summer she and her husband are expecting the arrival of their son. Sarah says that she will put a hold on her acting carear to stay home with her baby because, "films will always be there, but you can't get this time back with your baby."
